Abu Simbil Temples

Woke up at 3:30 for a 4 hour drive to the high dam at the border with Sudan.  We went in a convoy of tour buses with armed guards.  High drama but worth the effort.... truly amazing.

The Outside entrance to the temple. This entire site was relocated when its original site was flooded after the dam was built. Relocated 65 m higher.
One of the many giant carvings on the walls in the temple. Rames the second slaying his enemies.

    Wow, incredible stuff. The picture with Lenhotep the snow god really shows the scale of those carvings. Astounding to think they relocated that complex when they built the dam!

Chefchaouen

A beautiful mountain town. Most of the buildings are painted blue. Very clean with an unbelieveable amount of ferel cats. Went on a mountain hike through the Rif mountains that was quite strenuous but had a wonderful home cooked lunch at a gite at the end before taking a 4×4 vehicle back to the hotel.
