Etosha National park

Image
Chill out day camping at Etosha National Park in Namibia. Everyone else went on an all day safari in 38 degree weather. We stayed around the swimming pool (not the pool in the picture) and also watched the waterhole animals.  Animals seen at the waterhole throughout the day were Oryx, Kudu, Zebra, Springbok, Rhino, Lion and Elephant.

Okavango Delta

Camping on the Okavango Delta was an unique experience. We were poled ... think of gondolas.... out to our camp along hippo highways through the delta. Temps were in the high 30's....very hot. It cooled down later in the day and we rowed out to the hippo lagoon for a walking safari. All in all very memorable.

Smelly elephants

We stayed at the Elephant Sands Lodge last night. A dozen elephants that close have a fairly strong poo odor.  Hippos are from our Chobe river cruise.  Tomorrow we tent camp in the Okavango Delta, no power, no shower, no toilets, only Sarah the spade for toilet duty as our tour leader calls it.

Botswana Safari in Chobe National Park

Entered Botswana yesterday and went on a early morning safari.  Wonderful experience with all kinds of wildlife sighted. Highlight was the lion.

Walking to Zambia

Image
Walking across Zambezi river bridge at Victoria Falls to Zambia. Highlight of my day so far was to toot whistle of this 1953 steam engine burning coal.

Victoria Falls

Arrived in Victoria Falls today and stay for two nights before heading to Botswana.

Matabos National Park

Matabo National Park was created for the unusal rock formations. It also has a large population of rhinos and leopards. We went for an early morning hike to see 2000 year old cave drawings.
